Mechanical tests undertaken by Giuseppe & F.lli Bonaiti’s laboratory are compliant with UNI EN norms. Such tests do not reproduce the real material condition of use, but they give us results to compare, catalogue and characterize several steel types, because they are normalized in order to be repeatable.
The principal test to characterize steel products is tensile strength test. Typically, the testing involves taking a small sample with a fixed cross-section area, and then pulling it with a tensometer, gradually increasing force until the sample breaks. Tensile strength test shows also values of yield strength (Rp) and elongation (A).
